Mr. Robertson, a missionary from United Kingdom came to India with a vision of spreading gospel. During his initial days, he taught the people of the village to educate themselves, love one another and to lead a healthy, clean and disciplined life. Further he built a London mission school in Sulur in the year 1913 and the same served as a Church. The church was a strong foundation for many people of the region to accept Jesus Christ as the only saviour, way, truth and life. After 20 years of missionary and social service, Mr. Robertson returned to London in the year 1934. The school cum Church continued to lead people of Sulur and nearby in all righteous ways.
On 27 September 1947, all Protestant denominations like London Missions, Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists and SPG churches in India joined together under one roof and one banner “Church of South India (CSI) and Church of North India (CNI). Since then, the Church was growing in faith and numbers demanding a separate building for Church. The committee members during the year 1983 started building a new church with 2000 sqfts and it was built and consecrated in the year 1986 by the Bishop in the loving memory of the London missionary “Robertson.” i.e., CSI – Robertson Memorial Church – Sulur, Coimbatore , India.
